Toasting a major milestone for Minecraft

Challenge

YouTube's Culture & Trends team approached Toaster for help creating a special promotional microsite to celebrate Minecraft content reaching one trillion views on YouTube.

Approach

We began with a design aesthetic that balanced colorful 3D Minecraft elements with the flat, monochromatic style of YouTube’s UI. We then partnered with our client’s editorial staff to fill the site with engaging data visualizations and stories illustrating Minecraft's cultural impact. While developing the site, we incorporated dynamic hover effects and gameplay-inspired ‘achievement’ pop-ups.

Results

The site was built to adhere to strict accessibility standards and fit seamlessly into the overarching YouTube brand and site network. We had over 1M visits within the first week after launching.
