We partnered with YouTube and UCLA researchers to translate complex developmental insights into a 50-page guide, empowering video creators to share responsible, meaningful content for teen viewers.
Challenge
700M teens around the globe are watching YouTube videos every day – at a critical stage of self-discovery and independence. To support safer, higher-quality content for teens online, YouTube set out to build a resource to help creators use their influence responsibly.
Approach
Alongside the team at UCLA and a deep bench of teen wellness and psychological experts, we turned reams of research into a practical guide of top tips and watch-outs for creators to keep in mind. But rather than delivering a list of rules, we shaped the guide around real creator decisions, balancing academic data with a clear narrative, an editorial design system, and a creator-first tone. As trusted thought partners, we distilled the research into a comprehensive motion-enhanced guidebook as well as a 2-page PDF summary of the quality content creation guide.
Results
YouTube’s Creating For Teens guidebook changes how creators think about their influence and reframes responsibility as an opportunity to create with intention. It empowers them with tools to support teen wellbeing, belonging, and positive experiences on the platform.
