We took Google's global "Deep Thoughts" platform for Pixel 10 and rebuilt it from the ground up for India - not translated, but recast. Settings relatable to Indian audiences, relevant casting, and culturally-rooted nuances made the campaign feel local first, while also keeping it global by design.
Challenge
Google's "Deep Thoughts" platform was built as a global campaign for the Pixel 10 launch. The challenge for India wasn't distribution, it was translation in the deeper sense: making a campaign built for a global audience feel like it belonged to Indian audiences specifically, without diluting the platform Google had built worldwide.
Approach
Rather than reskin the existing films with local voiceovers or surface-level edits, we rebuilt each of the four films around the same "Deep Thoughts" idea, but re-cast, re-set, and re-written for India specifically. That meant:
Local settings that Indian audiences would recognise as their own, not backdrops borrowed from the global version
Casting chosen for relevance to Indian audiences, not international faces localised after the fact
Cultural nuance built into the writing and performance, not layered on top of a global script
The global platform gave us the thought. India gave us the specifics, how that thought actually shows up in an Indian friend group, an Indian conversation, an Indian sense of humour. The goal throughout was consistency of idea, not consistency of execution, as the four films needed to feel unmistakably "Deep Thoughts," while never feeling like a dubbed version of someone else's campaign.
Results
Global platforms often lose something when they travel, either they stay too faithful to the original and feel foreign, or they get so localised that the global idea disappears entirely. The Pixel 10 films held both at once: Google's global "Deep Thoughts" thinking stayed intact, but every detail underneath it was rebuilt for India.
