bar.foo : Recruiting the world's best software engineers

Challenge

Google wanted an engaging and carefully crafted idea to recruit the world's best software engineers, an audience who usually switch off as soon as they feel they are being pitched to.

Approach

We created a rabbit hole from Google search results, leading to a series of innovative coding challenges for developers and, if successfully solved, an interview with Google.

Our exclusive online destination, bar.foo (named after coding terminology), also served as a place for Google engineers to share stories about some of their most successful products and services, inspiring and engaging potential hires.

Results

Reinvigorated curiosity into Google’s recruitment process and reignited engineers’ desire to build careers at Google - so successful it is still in use after 5 years.
