ChatGPT-4o: the new frontier of text, voice & vision

Open AI’s ChatGPT-4o makes waves with massive upgrades to its text, voice and vision capabilities. With new features like emotion and face detection, real-time translation, emotive voice generation and its ability to understand code and debug via voice commands, ChatGPT-4o paves the way for more natural and accessible human-computer interaction. We’re particularly excited about the potential to simplify complex tasks. Imagine explaining a coding error with your voice and having ChatGPT-4o instantly diagnose and suggest a fix.

Apple enters the AI race

Not to be left behind in the supercharged world of AI, Apple unveiled “Apple Intelligence” at WWDC 2024 this week. Announcing a new suite of generative AI tools to be integrated across products and services, Apple also confirmed its much-anticipated partnership with OpenAI and the integration of ChatGPT technology into Siri. The ambition? To create a more automated, personalised and contextually relevant experience for users that links to “personal intelligence”. We’re excited to see what’s in store.

Not all heroes wear capes

Jordan, a 5 year old boy born without a left hand, has become the youngest recipient of a technologically advanced prosthetic arm. This "Hero Arm", created by Bristol-based Open Bionics, uses special sensors to detect muscle contractions in his residual limb and translates those signals into bionic hand movements. Imagine a mini Iron Man suit for his arm! Know more about how these 3D printed bionic arms are changing the face of medical devices and the lives of many around the world.

The latest line of defence against climate change

A cloud platform that uses AI to create super-realistic simulations of Earth's climate and weather, NVIDIA’s Earth-2 allows for a deeper and faster understanding of weather events and subsequently, solutions for climate change. With the incorporation of CorrDiff, an AI model that creates faster simulations while being energy efficient, Earth-2 offers high-resolution simulations and interactive visualisations, offering a wealth to a wide range of users - from researchers and scientists to educators and even the general public.

One small step for AI, another giant leap for image generation

Text with spelling mistakes, eerie faces and distorted limbs are often the unfortunate byproducts of AI-created images. That’s all set to change with the release of Stable Diffusion 3 Medium, Stability AI’s most advanced text-to-image open model yet. Comprising two billion parameters, the model is able to understand complex prompts and absorb nuanced details from datasets, making for “unprecedented results” in photorealism and accuracy. Hands that are the stuff of nightmares, begone.
