Junior Strategist, London


Job Summary
In your primary day-to-day role, you will support strategic initiatives for the EMEA team. You will be involved across existing client relationships and new business opportunities. A key focus will be building a close partnership with our Head of Strategy, working together to understand our client’s business problems and conducting extensive research on digital behaviours, category truths and cultural insights to develop impactful brand and communication strategies. You will also work closely with creative and technical leads to distil business challenges into actionable creative briefs, collaborate on workshops, and support creatives with robust strategic rationales when selling work to clients.

You may also get involved on an ad-hoc basis in global opportunities across our San Francisco and New Delhi offices, but this will not be a core focus.

You will also be invited to contribute to thought leadership and participate in industry events to develop your skills and elevate Toaster’s marketing presence.

What you’ll be doing

  • Delve into our clients’ businesses through in-depth brand audits (e.g. positioning, content, products, channels etc.) and stakeholder interviews
  • Perform research (audience, cultural, category) to uncover insights and develop solutions that drive the key business goals while maintaining a high bar for creativity
  • Carry out social listening via Brandwatch to surface trends, themes and insights (training available)
  • Collaborate with our Head of Strategy and leadership to define and refine the brief, prioritising objectives, discussing possible approaches and territories
  • Participate in brand and business strategy discussions with our clients to uncover challenges and opportunities
  • Support in the facilitation of meetings and workshops to foster strategic and innovative creative thinking
  • Ensure that all activity is impactful and measurable, with tracking in place to capture learnings that can be applied to future work
  • Nurture an ongoing strategic partnership with clients by proactively sharing ideas and relevant material concerning their business challenges
  • Produce thought leadership content and participate in industry events to elevate Toaster’s reputation for strategic excellence
  • Support in submitting case studies and awards entries for EMEA, working alongside relevant project teams to gather material for submission (with the support of the Marketing Manager).

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in working at startups, creative agencies or in-house teams
  • Strong interest and understanding of the consumer, popular culture, innovative tech and marketing trends
  • Excellent research (primary or secondary), analysis, and presentation skills
